Sequestered

Once connected,
Now rejected,
Despondent
Pain is Resonant
But bolstered
By the invisible truth
Leaking from my lips,
The blood trickles
From my sullied pen,

Alone again,
Forsooth-
Never more shall be.

Sequestered
The scars remain.
Identity kept a mystery
The piano plays its well-hewn tune-
Sullen
Silent
Scared,
Scarred,
Shaken,

Questioning direction,
Finger on the wind
Forsaken.
The words come
But at a painstaking
Pace,

The effort to save face
Is replaced
By grace.

My soul’s place
Is assured,
Unburdened
And secure

Even if I should be disgraced
By the earth
From whom I have been procured.
