The padded walls around this fortress
Stay firmly up until I know it’s safe to let them down,
Because I don’t forget anyone, ever,
And once someone is in my heart,
They never really leave.
Even if the feelings change,
The memory remains,
And it won’t take long
To revive the fire within.
So I keep it cool,
Because this icy heart will crack under pressure,
And who’s left to pick up the shards?
Solo is a safer bet.
Though a promise is a promise,
And seeds of hope might just bear fruit,
A familiar pattern is much easier to trust.
Once you know the game,
You might want the player
But keep a distant hand concealed,
And prefer to outfox him, instead.
Want to catch up?
Come out, with your paws up.
