I am open about the fact that I am a sexual abuse survivor. I am also a proud artist. There is a project taking place as part of Good Deeds Day this year that’s very close to my heart- a painting project, the proceeds of which will go to Zacharias House, a nonprofit organization which supports sexual abuse and assault survivors. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The organization I work for, the Jewish United Fund/TOV, is participating in Good Deeds Day again this year on Sunday, April 2, and we are hoping to recruit 1,000 or more volunteers from the Greater Chicagoland area for this event. The Z Center project will be taking place at the Open House, which is at Menomonee Club Chicago. Here’s a little bit more about the project itself, and about Good Deeds Day:
• Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center (The Z Center) – paint individual canvases to donate to clients at The Z Center
o Built on the courage of survivors, staff, volunteers and donors, we have been serving the community as a non-profit center against sexual assault and abuse since 1983.
Zacharias Center has a 24-hour helpline, free counseling and a referral service.
Good Deeds Day is an international day of “doing good” founded in Israel in 2007. Participants from over 75 countries throughout the world perform good deeds, proving that any single person can make a difference in their community. Join the movement with TOV on Sunday, April 2, 2017.

I am sharing more of my story here, on my podcast series, ‘Sips Swirls and Life Bites.’ Please spread the word also, especially if you have friends in the Chicago area, who would like to do something worthwhile on April 2nd.
